League

You enter the Arena in the game through a NSFW version of this button.

In the Arena, you fight league battles, pitting your squad against the squad of an opponent selected for you by the AI. The enemy squad is also controlled by the AI.

Each league win rewards you with fame, gold, a chest, and bonus gold depending on the length of your current win streak. When you open your chests, you have a chance to get Gold Dust and Friend Coins (and Event Sparks when an event is running).

Every time you advance to a higher league for the first time you'll receive a report about what has been unlocked, plus a certain amount of boosted chests (i.e. your subsequent chests have their default rarity boosted by 1 tier).

Chest rarity is random, but you need to have unlocked league 20 before you can earn Epic Chests and league 10 to have a chance for Legendary Chests. For more details about chests, please visit their respective pages.

League levels Edit

When you begin the game, you start the Tutorial in League 30. Advancing your league level means your League number gets lower. To advance to the next league level, you have to earn fame. This is done by winning matches in the Arena (the FIGHT button on the lower right corner of the main screen). Starting from League 24 you also lose fame after each loss in the Arena.

Your current and maximum league levels determine a lot of other things. Current: amount of cards from PvP chests, difficulty of Event bosses, difficulty in Dark Tower, and maximum gold from win streak. Maximum: cost of summons, cost of Dark Tower, amount of cards you can request and donate, and much more.

At the end of each season, the chests you are awarded depend on your maximum league level during that season.

Grandmaster League Edit

Grandmaster’s League (L GM), is the League of the top 45 players in the game, in terms of Fame status. It is divided into two sub-leagues, the Grandmasters (places 1-25) and the Grandmaster Outsiders (places 26-45). The above division is in title only, as it is possible for players 1-25 to fight with players 26-45 and vice versa.

Every week the top 10 players of League 1 (L 1), aka Challengers to Grandmaster (fame 11500 and above) are promoted to Grandmaster Outsiders, replacing the lower 10 players of (L GM). The Fame of the promoted players is set to 15000, while fame of the demoted players is set to 11500. At the same time, the fame of all other players in (L GM) and (L 1) is reset to 15000 and 11500 respectively.

(L GM) gives the best rewards for PvP, dark tower and journey victories. But it requires substantial might as well as skill, because you’ll be facing the best decks in the game.

The greatest difference with other leagues is the fame award system. Starting with 15000 fame, every win adds and every defeat subtracts fame, but no longer are these changes fixed amounts as in other leagues. The system in place is comparable with the Elo system in competitive chess, except winning or losing only affects your points and not your opponent's points. While the formula may not be exactly the same as the one used for chess, the principle is the same: wins against higher rated opponents and losses against lower rated opponents affect your fame much more than wins against lower rated opponents and losses against higher rated opponents.

The witnessed range for change in fame is at least between ±150 and ±1. The second time you face the same opponent you win or lose less fame than the first time and so on. Eventually the ranking becomes stable, as every fight means smaller and smaller changes to fame. This also means that it becomes very difficult to drop league ;-).

The sequence of opponents is also irregular, but it follows some general lines. First you face an opponent one position behind you. Win and you’ll be fighting an opponent ranking one position in front.  Lose and you’ll be facing an opponent ranking two positions behind you. A victory streak means that your opponents are ranking ever higher, while a defeat streak means that your opponent are ranking ever lower. As your fame increases or decreases, your ranking may also change, so this becomes a rather fluid procedure. But if you play nonstop and win half your battles, you will eventually face every single player in (L GM). After a time interval, you start again with an opponent one position behind you and so on.

Cards unlocked per league Edit

By default, most cards are locked at the beginning of the game, meaning they cannot be summoned in the Shop, in PvP chests, in Daily Bonuses, or in Turf War rewards. Cards can be unlocked primarily in one of two ways: a friend with that card gifts it to you through the Friend Shop, or you advance to a high enough League. Discovering a card means you actually get it for the first time. While League unlocks can change (and frequently do, as cards cycle into and out of Limbo), discovered cards are forever unlocked.

This is the list of cards that can be unlocked per every league, updated to 22/06/2018.

Cards in LimboEdit

This is a list of the cards that cannot be unlocked by league level, as of 22/06/2018, sorted by their last known league. Newer Event cards that have not been added to the league unlock list are not included here since they have no known league.
